Body Work/Somatic Therapy
Explore the mind-body connection.
What is somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy is a holistic approach to healing that focuses on the mind-body connection to address psychological issues. It acknowledges the ways in which emotional experiences are stored in the body and aims to release tension and trauma through physical techniques such as breathwork, movement, touch, and mindfulness.
The word “somatic” means body, so to have a focus on somatic therapy means we are actively inviting the body into the healing space. We know that our bodies are the vessels for us to live our lives, which means our bodies collect the brunt of what we experience! Our bodies tell the story that our minds sometimes work incredibly hard to forget. Holli teaches people how to feel “safe enough” in their bodies to be able to release the things that no longer serve them. One of the ways she does that is through yoga, for which there are numerous research-backed benefits.
How It Works
By engaging the body directly in the therapeutic process, somatic therapy helps individuals access and process deep-seated emotions, memories, and patterns, promoting overall well-being and psychological resilience. This approach recognizes that our bodies hold valuable insights and resources for healing, offering a unique pathway towards greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and personal growth.
